Epic treadmills and the Epic brand of fitness equipment is owned by Icon Health and Fitness, Inc. The Epic brand had primarily been sold in Costco stores and after faltering, the Icon company brought Epic brand treadmills back to life.
The popular Epic Treadmill, the Epic T60 is priced competitively and is a good enough machine. However, don’t expect this treadmill to last for years. It simply doesn’t have extremely rugged construction. There are many models that are built much more solidly than this or other Epic treadmill models.
If you’re looking for a comparable treadmill in price, but is smoother and much more ruggedly constructed, check out the Smooth treadmill. For the most part, Icon uses the Epic treadmill exclusively for sale in the Costco chain of stores.
That said, the Epic T60 is a moderately durable machine at a fair price. There’s nothing wrong with the design and it could very well end up lasting for several years if maintained properly. It is designed or use in the home gym, and so would fit more accurately in the economy treadmill class, more than the commercial class of treadmills.
Feedback and readout displays on the Epic T60 keep track of distance, time, calories burned and pulse rate as it is measured through the pulse sensor grips in the handles. Heart rate is measures using an optional chest pulse sensor, and is also displayed on the readout panel.
Epic treadmill models offer pre-set workout programs as well as customizable workout programs and iFit compatibility. iFit is very cool and has many features. Not only can users download and store workout data to their PDA and transfer it to a treadmill, but there are programs that allow a user’s workout program to respond to his or her pulse rate. Imagine the perfectly targeted workout this kind of technology is capable of providing.
Again, this is a reason why even though the Epic treadmill is of a lower construction grade it is a fair deal as it comes with so many of the latest features, as well as a robust selection of what are now considered to be basic treadmill features like power incline and constant speed adjustment control.
The Epic T60 is capable of holding persons weighing up to 350 pounds and has a very large surface with an adjustable and cushioned platform surface. This unit can also easily be folded and stored away after each use. The warranty on this unit is very good as far as treadmill warranties go. The motor has a twelve year warranty. The frame of the Epic T60 treadmill has a fifteen year warranty, and the parts and labor for any repairs is covered for up to one year after purchase.
