Precor Treadmill

With a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of two to four thousand dollars, the Precor treadmill and fitness company was acquired from Illinois Tool Works by Amer Group PLC during the fall of 2002. Amer Group owns other well known brands as well, such as Wilson Sporting Goods. Precor has been manufacturing top quality sporting equipment since the early 1980s.

On the Treadmill Doctor website, it is stated that though a meeting and tour of the facilities was set up, Precor failed to make good on the arrangement. As the Treadmill Doctor site goes on to say, either Precor agrees with the ratings their treadmills have been given, or they just don’t care about setting the reviewers straight.

So let’s talk a little about the Precor treadmill line. Though these treadmills tend to be among the pricier range of treadmills, they are quality machines that last for a long time and are easy to use. They typically have all of the popular extra features that you’d want on a treadmill. But only you can decide if the extra $500 to $1000 is worth it.

The Precor treadmill company is in the business of making money. And there’s nothing wrong with that. They make some decent fitness equipment and then put a fat price sticker on it. On the other hand, you can find comparable equipment from other sources that will cost significantly less.

On a different note, Precor continues to do very well in sales of their elliptical and treadmill products, so you can expect ongoing support for any Precor treadmill that you may buy. After all, what good is a treadmill when some unique part breaks and there’s no one around to replace any longer?

Precor’s top of the line treadmill retails for over four thousand dollars. Ok, so you can’t expect a $500 treadmill to last for fifteen years of daily use, but $4,000 for a regular human capacity treadmill? I’m not so sure about that.

That’s not to say that Precor doesn’t make some outstanding treadmills and other fitness machines, but I don’t believe in wasting money either. There are better things to spend money on in the world than padding the wallets of commercial juggernauts.

That being said, if you want to spend the money, and the Precor treadmills are right for you, go for it. The important thing is that you decide for yourself. No matter how many consumer reports or fitness magazines you read, they can’t tell you anything about how a treadmill is going to feel to you in particular.

Take the time to go to a gym or fitness store and get on several different machines. This is the best and really the only way to be sure that you know what you’re buying and how it will affect your lifestyle, whether you end up getting a Precor treadmill or any other kind.
