Used Treadmills

Used treadmills are a great way to protect the environment, recycle goods with neighbors and friends, as well as save a ton of money on buying a treadmill for your home. If you do your homework and make smart decisions along the way, buying used treadmills can be just as satisfying, risk free and straight forward as buying a brand new treadmill at a retail store.

A good place to buy used treadmills is on one of the popular online auction websites. Use the location tool so that you can narrow down the used treadmills being sold to those that are a specified distance from your location.

You can find even top of the line treadmills for extremely low prices on these auction websites, but you have to be careful about shipping costs. Make sure that the seller doesn’t live too far away, or your great deal may turn out to be double or even triple what you paid for the treadmill.

Sellers on auction websites usually have their shipping costs clearly laid out in the auction description area of their auction, but if there is anything not clear to you, be sure to clarify things with them before he close of the auction.

If you’re interested in selling a used treadmill you your own, do careful about shipping yourself. When I sold a used treadmill on an auction website, UPS ended up charging me for shipping in addition to what I’d charged the buyer. It turns out that my measurements differing from the UPS worker’s measurements by a coupe of inches nearly tripled the shipping rate.

The buyer didn’t care that I barely broke even once I absorbed the shipping mishap charges. He wasn’t going to chip in anything, and rightfully so. He already had his newly purchased treadmill sitting in his house, and it’s not his fault that I miscalculated the shipping. Take it from me, for large items like used treadmills, either take it to the location yourself or be extra careful about taking the measurements.

UPS has detailed instructions on their website about how to measure large packages. The tricky part is that they apply a surcharge to packages that fall outside a certain range, based on a density formula they provide. This is what got me. Be very sure that you measure and add the measurements accurately.

In addition to buying used treadmills, there are also refurbished treadmills to consider. In fact, these are superior to buying used treadmills from individuals in many ways. Primarily, refurbished treadmills oftentimes will be covered under an entirely new warranty. Factory refurbished treadmills are pretty much like brand new treadmills. The only difference is that they’ve been sent back to the manufacturer for some unknown reason, and have been fixed up to mint standards.

Used treadmills can save a lot of money, but this is especially true of premium treadmills. With prices of top of the line treadmills ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 and more, it’s can make an enormous difference in the bottom line to buy a used or refurbished treadmill instead of a brand new treadmill from a retailer.
